Busquets has ‘no explanation’ for Barca’s loss to Levante

The midfielder spoke after the champions’ shock defeat

Sergio Busquets said he had no explanation for Barcelona’s 3-1 defeat to Levante in La Liga on Saturday.

The champions looked set for victory after taking the lead through Lionel Messi, but the hosts hit back and scored three goals in seven second-half minutes to pick up the win.

Busquets spoke about his team’s performance after the match but was unable to put his finger on where it all went wrong.

“There’s no explanation. It was an even game. We did the most difficult part, putting ourselves ahead. But they landed a blow and it did us damage,” he said.

“They play with a lot of people in attack. On one of the goals, we couldn’t get the second ball. We were on a good run It was a very fair game. I think that the game was equal but the result was excessive.”

Ernesto Valverde’s side will need to bounce back quickly from Saturday’s dismal result. They are back in action against Slavia Prague in the Champions League on Tuesday and will need no reminding how much they struggled against the Czech side last time out.
