Ilaix Moriba left with mixed feelings after Barcelona debut
An assist and a mistake from the youngster
Ilaix Moriba was left with mixed feelings after making his La Liga debut for Barcelona against Alaves on Saturday.
The 18-year-old was a surprise name on the teamsheet as Ronald Koeman rotated his squad ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
The midfielder started the game well and grabbed a great assist when he calmly teed up Francisco Trincao for the opening goal.
However, a poor error in the second half saw Luis Rioja pull one back, and left Moriba struggling to forget the mistake after the full-time whistle.
“I’m always thinking about the last thing and I have that mistake in my head,” he said.
“But I had a good game, I’m happy to have helped with the assist and I’m very happy.
“I was picking up my head and seeing Leo and Griezmann - it was all a dream. It was all brilliant.
“[Messi] is lots of players’ idol. Everyone that knows something about football knows that he’s the best in the world and I’m thankful for the passes he gave me. I’ll remember everything. I’ll never forget anything.
“All I need now is to be able to play in front of the fans, with them here cheering us on.”

The mistake from Moriba was a tough moment for the youngster, which he will no doubt learn from, but it was still a memorable evening as he became the latest La Masia product to make his debut for Barca.
