The midfielder is impressing in Ronald Koeman’s team

Ilaix Moriba is the newest La Masia product to break into the Barcelona first team this season, establishing himself as a part of the midfield and providing a lot of hope for the future with his energy and skill.

And in order to wait for his chance and break into the first team Moriba rejected better offers from other big clubs in Europe, according to an interview from Ilaix’s father, Mamady Moriba, who says the two rejected advances from the Premier League and Italy to play for Barça.

Dad Moriba also praised Ronald Koeman for giving his son a chance, and as every proud father he’s very excited for Ilaix’s future at the club.

“We said no to a lot of money because Ilaix wanted to play for Barça. We had offers from Chelsea, Manchester City and Juventus that were bigger than Barça, and I canceled a trip to Manchester because Barça made a strong bet. We’ll go to death with the Culés and we want to stay at Barça.

“I have no words to describe [Koeman], we have to thank him so much for everything he has done for Ilaix and all the confidence he has given him. Also thank you to the club and everyone who has helped Ilaix in all the years at La Masia.”
