Sabadell 1-3 Barça B: Recap
An excellent performance and a deserved victory
Barcelona B have finally won their first game of the Third Division season, and it was a dominant 3-1 victory over Catalan rivals Sabadell thanks to an excellent team performance. Barça B dominated from the start, had two disallowed goals in the first half but finally found the back of the net in the second period and won their first game under new head coach Sergi Barjuan.
FIRST HALF
The first 45 minutes were undoubtedly Barça’s best so far this season. The young Blaugrana were on top from the start, moving the ball with pace from side to side and using Sabadell’s man-marking defense to their advantage.
Jandro Orellana ran the midfield, and wingers Nils Mortimer and Ferran Jutglà were constant threats on the flanks. Defensively, Barça never suffered and Arnau Tenas needed to make just the one save in the 41st minute.
Barça’s dominance was translated into chances, with Mortimer missing a one-on-one and Jutglà almost scoring a screamer, and there were also two disallowed goals: first Guillem Jaime scored with an amazing left-footed shot but Ángel Rodado was offside and interfered with the goalkeeper, and then Mortimer was a little too eager on his run after a shot by Álvaro Sanz and was also offside when he found the back of the net.
At halftime, the game was goalless but Barça B were playing very well and looked ready to find the winning goals in the second half.
SECOND HALF
Barça B continued to dominate possession in the second half and there were more chances thanks to excellent wing plan. Mortimer had to go off with a foot injury, but Ez Abde came in his place with great energy and desire, and it was his shot into the box that came into the feet of Ángel Rodado who scored the rebound and gave Barça the lead.
The visitors continued to attack looking for a second and were fully deserving of a victory, but Morgado scored a header with 10 minutes to go in what was Sabadell’s only chance of the second half and the home team was back in it.
But the game was not over, and after a long ball from the back by Tenas looking for Rodado the Barça B striker showed great strength and composure to beat two Sabadell defenders and find the back of the net for his second of the game.
Matheus Pereira came on as a substitute and also joined the scoring party, with a beautiful strike from the edge of the box to make it 3-1. That was enough to kill off the game, and the final whistle came to end an excellent performance and the first win of the season for Barça B.
That’s more like it.
