The defender hobbled off on USMNT duty

Sergino Dest is expected to be fit for Barcelona’s La Liga clash against Sevilla on Saturday, if the game goes ahead, despite suffering an ankle spain playing for the USMNT.

The right-back was taken off in the first half of his team’s 1-1 World Cup qualifying draw with Canada and will not play his team’s next game against Honduras, according to Siempre Positivo.

However, the injury is just a “minor ankle sprain” which means Dest should be available for the trip to Sevilla which remains in some doubt.

The RFEF has reportedly rejected La Liga’s request to postpone the game but the league is expected to challenge the decision.

If the match does go ahead as scheduled, Dest is likely to start. The departure of Emerson Royal to Tottenham means the 20-year-old is Barca’s first-choice right-back.

Barcelona do have a few other defensive issues for the game. Ronald Araujo will miss out because of international duty with Uruguay, while Gerard Pique has a calf injury but was back in training on Monday.
