It’s been a good season for the defender

Barcelona defender Eric Garcia has been discussing his future after enjoying a good season on loan with Michel’s high-flying Girona.

Girona sit just two points behind Barcelona in the league table and have already qualified for European competition for next season.

Eric says he will return to Barcelona at the end of the season to talk about what happens next.

“I’m going to return to Barça. I have a contract, I will return when the season ends and we will talk to the club to see what is there,” he told Diario Sport.

“For now I will return to Barça, it is my club. Obviously, at Girona I have been very good, they have treated me very well and even more so if we achieve what we are about to achieve.

“[Staying at Barca] will depend on the club. I know that I have two more years on my contract and that I have to return. We haven’t talked yet, we’ll see.”

Garcia also went on to talk about Michel and how he has helped him improve as a player during his time at Girona.

“He has given me a lot of confidence from the first day I spoke with him. Since before coming,” he added.

“I am very grateful to him because my individual level and that of the entire team is due to the confidence he transmits to the players, to everything that is happening to us during the week, to the advice he gives us. He has made us all better.”

It seems difficult for Eric to continue at Barcelona as Xavi already has Ronald Araujo, Pau Cubarsi, Jules Kounde, Inigo Martinez and Andreas Christensen in his first-team squad.

There has already been speculation that Girona will try to sign Eric on a permanent basis and are willing to pay upto €20 million to land the defender.
