Alen Halilovic agent confirms La Liga loan
We finally have a done deal and Alen Halilovic's footballing future is set.
The 19-year-old Croatian prospect is indeed leaving Barcelona for a year-long loan at La Liga team Sporting Gijón, who have just been promoted back to Spain's first division. After getting relegated to the third tier with Barça B, the young midfielder expressed his desire of playing a more competitive league. He was promoted to the first team, but the coaching staff decided it would be better for him to get experience outside of his few minutes with the Blaugrana.
Halilovic's agent, Zoran Stojadinovic, did an interview with a Catalan outlet confirming that his player will indeed join the Asturian side, most likely on Friday, contigent on a few contract details.
"The player has made his mind up. It's all agreed in principle. In football, nothing is done until it's signed, but there's an agreement between the parties and the boy will make progress on the pitch there this year.
"The deal will be signed unless there's a serious problem and I don't see why there would be one. We'll sign on Friday, it hasn't happened before because I'm away and can't travel there until Friday".

According to sources, there is no demand for a minimum number of appearances on this contract, which is what frustrated the imminent deal Barça had with Bundesliga team Hamburger SV. It's up to Gijón's coach to decide whether or not Halilovic will get chances, but with the lack of players on that position, and with Alen's talent, it's hard to imagine him having a low number of minutes.
Good luck, kiddo. Come back next year to kick ass with us.
