Iniesta and Alves say tag of favourites is won on the pitch
Before the final of the European Super Cup, the two players reject the label whilst reaffirming their hope of claiming six trophies this year
Ahead of training at the venue for tomorrow’s European Super Cup, Andrés Iniesta and Dani Alves have appeared in the press room to evaluate Barça’s form coming into the game. The new blaugrana captain recognized the “honour” of the role but revealed himself to be blessed because, “I have the fortune to be in a fantastic dressing room.”
Dani Alves, for his part, highlighted what it would mean to lift the Super Cup oN Tuesday in the Dinamo Arena in Tbilisi: “We have the chance of winning another trophy, which would be a great start.” Jokingly, the Brazilian added: “It would be the best way for Andrés to start his captaincy.” The full back reflected on his 2006 victory in the competition when he was a Sevilla player against Barça, claiming “the role of favourite you have to earn out there on the field.” Alves, like Iniesta, rejected the role of favourites for the first title of the season.
Other statements from Andrés Iniesta and Dani Alves:

“It’s a shame that Neymar can’t play, but we have other good players to take his place.”
