FC Barcelona's first week of competition in the 2015/16 season included a UEFA Super Cup victory over Sevilla and the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Athletic Club. Here are the biggest stories of the week:

FC Barcelona v Sevilla FC: Fourth title of 2015 (5–4). Pedro provides game-winner in extra time after Sevilla erase three-goal second-half deficit. Messi bags two free-kick goals in first half, Rafinha and Suárez chip in as well

- Messi's opening goal from the European Super Cup Final in pictures. Nineteen still images of the amazing strike by the Argentinian to open FC Barcelona's account against Sevilla.

- Focus on Dani Alves during the European Super Cup. Follow the Brazilian both before and after the final played in Tbilisi

- Messi's 10 goals in the Spanish Super Cup. The Argentine striker will face Athletic Club as he attempts to add to his impressive goal haul

- Athletic Club v FC Barcelona: Gloomy night in Bilbao (4–0). Disappointing defeat means Barça have it all to do in Monday's second leg at Camp Nou.

- History suggests FC Barcelona could claw back the tie. Barça and Athletic Club have faced each other on numerous occasions down the years and eight of the games between them have ended in a result which if repeated on Monday night would be enough for Barça to lift their 12th Spanish Super Cup trophy.
