Report: Barcelona set to make offer for Liverpool star

A few days ago, it was just something Steven Gerrard had suggested. Now, it has developed into a rumor.

According to Fichajes, Barcelona is interested in the signing of Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho, likely in January. The Brazilian youngster has been a fantastic performer for the Reds, and his ability to play various positions on the wing and central midfield could suit Barça's style really well. Also according to the report, the English club is not willing to sell right now, but if an official approach is made, there could be business.

The report also suggests that former Coutinho teammate and Blaugrana star Luis Suárez is pushing for his signing, giving his best references and looking to convince the Brazilian, who was one of his best friends in Liverpool, to join forces with him again. Another one of Coutinho's friends, Neymar Jr., can also accompany the Uruguayan in trying to lure Phillipe into a move to Catalonia.

Money is not really a problem for the Catalan giants, but the player's market value, of €30 million, is not that high and could actually prove to be a bargain in the future because of Coutinho's enormous potential. If he ever joins the Treble winners, the 23-year-old could serve as a very good replacement to Pedro Rodríguez, and even an option to the central midfield role.

Thanks for starting the rumors, Stevie G. Here we go.
