Real Sociedad vs Barcelona, La Liga: Final Score 2-4, Amazing comeback gives Barça big win at Anoeta

A second half masterpiece and the Anoeta Curse is truly broken!!!

The Anoeta Curse is truly broken! After 10 years without a victory away to Real Sociedad, Barcelona have now won two in a row and the latest victory was amazing. The Blaugrana started poorly and went down 2-0 early on, but a second half masterpice gave the league leaders a 4-2 win that keeps them unbeaten after the first half of La Liga and puts them 9 points clear at the top of the table — and 19 points ahead of Real Madrid. Life is great!

FIRST HALF

Barça had no pace, no creativity, no defensive organization, and no desire to play better for a long time. They conceded two very bad goals thanks to lack of awareness from the right side of the Barça defense, and La Real looked in cruise control after a fantastic performance in the first half.

But Barça did give themselves a chance when Luis Suárez played a great ball across the box to Paulinho, who tapped the ball home and made the game a lot closer than it actually was.

At halftime, a really poor performance from the Blaugrana somehow had them losing by just one goal.

SECOND HALF

Ernesto Valverde is really good at halftime talks, and he did it again. Even though there were no tactical or personnel changes, the team just looked better, passing the ball quicker with more accuracy and finding a lot more space inside the Sociedad defense. It also helps to have a great striker rediscovering his form, and Luis Suárez was simply sensational.

He turned the game around by himself, starting with an incredible finish that is really hard to describe but is simply amazing to equalize followed by a really smart run in behind the defense following a header from midfield that put him through on goal for an easy finish and the lead for the visitors.

Sociedad had 20 minutes to find a goal and make the game 3-3, and Barça clearly wanted to keep the ball as much as possible and avoid silly mistakes. Not only did they not avoid an equalizer, they got a fourth goal thanks to an unbelievable free kick from Lionel Messi, and the win was finally secured.
