Luis Suarez tells Barcelona they must be ‘switched on’ for second leg against Valencia
Luis Suarez has said Barcelona must be “switched on” when they face Valencia in the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final next Thursday at Mestalla.
Ernesto Valverde’s side will head into the game with a slender 1-0 lead after the first leg at Camp Nou thanks to Suarez’s header.
However, the in-form Uruguayan says the tie is still very much alive and Barcelona can’t afford to make silly mistakes next time out.
“It’s the minimum advantage. A 1-0 win isn’t much, but there’s the plus that they haven’t scored. They didn’t create much danger, they respected us and that’s beneficial for us. The tie is still open,” he said.
“Knowing that we have a lot of chances, they tried to keep things tight. When they do that, there’s not much space for us. However, in the second half we tried to build a bigger advantage.”
“We will have to plan well [for the return game]. They’re going to press a lot and we can’t be asleep. We have to be switched on.”

It was a tough game for Barcelona but a goal and a clean sheet mean they do have the advantage. There is still plenty to play for next weekend and let’s hope the team can finish the job.
