Ernesto Valverde Criticized by Veteran Player - Report

The fallout continues after Barcelona’s Champions League exit

We keep getting more news and rumors after FC Barcelona’s UEFA Champions League exit, and once again, the target is coach Ernesto Valverde. According to Diario SPORT, one of the “heavyweights” of the squad told him after the match that the game was set up for “more physical players.” Valverde, the report says, had nothing to say, and simply listened to the criticism.

The elimination has reportedly tainted the relationship between the coach and players. The “sacred cow” of the dressing room who said this is not revealed, although the list of who it could be is rather short. Realistically, the only ones who fits the description of a “sacred cow” and “heavyweight” are: Andrés Iniesta, Lionel Messi, Gerard Piqué, Luis Suárez, and maybe Sergio Busquets or Jordi Alba.

It’s a little worse or a little not-as-bad depending on who of those it was, but in any case, that is not good at all for Valverde. But, it’s expected he will continue next season and he has a long time to get players back on his side.
