Luis Enrique confirmed as new Spain boss

The former Barcelona man takes over from Hierro
Former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has been confirmed as the new Spain boss as he takes over from Fernando Hierro who took charge of the team at the World Cup after Julen Lopetegui’s shock exit.
Other names had been in the frame such as Quique Sanchez Flores, Michel, Roberto Martinez and Victor Sanchez del Amo but it’s Lucho who will be in the hotseat.

Spain could use the stability and squad control that Enrique puts on his teams. The absence of a consistent voice in recent days at Spain likely cost them in the World Cup. The difficulty in picking a national team manager has often come down to the split in the Spain locker room between Barcelona and Real Madrid players.
With Enrique now in place the switch to a “Barcelona” man is pretty interesting. We’ll have to see how the different players within the locker room react.
