Pep Guardiola: “I Will Finish Where I Started... I Hope at Barça”
The manager has hinted he would like to work with the youth set-up
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has hinted at a return to FC Barcelona, albeit, perhaps, not with the first team. Speaking to former Real Madrid player and manager Jorge Valdano on his new talk show, Universo Valdano, Guardiola said “I will finish again where I started... my last steps will be in the youth teams - I hope at Barça. I believe it’s - to start, it’s the best.”
Guardiola began his career as a manager in charge of FC Barcelona B, before moving onto managing the first team and then Bayern Munich, before landing his current job in Manchester. If he ended his career by coaching at youth levels for Barcelona, he would indeed, come full circle.
The coach did not say whether he would be open to managing the FC Barcelona senior side in the future or not.
In the short preview for the interview, which airs tomorrow, Pep also says: “That’s why I’m a manager, that’s why I also deserve to be happy. My teams will play the way I want them to.”
