Time for Barcelona to pull together - Rakitic

The Croatian is not happy about Lionel Messi’s injury

Ivan Rakitic says Barcelona need to pull together after discovering that captain Lionel Messi will miss the next three weeks with injury.

The Argentine’s injury is ill-timed with important fixtures on the horizon, and Rakitic says it’s time the team pulled together in the absence of their influential skipper.

“We’re not happy, but that’s football. He had the bad luck to hurt himself trying to support his fall and we saw quickly it didn’t look good.

“Now we have to pull together, show that without Leo the team can move forward and wish him a quick recovery.”

Barcelona are back on top of La Liga after beating Sevilla 4-2 which ends a four-match winless run in La Liga.

They will be really tested over the next week without Messi. Inter Milan are the next visitors to the Camp Nou. They’re in action tomorrow night in the derby against AC Milan.

And then it’s the visit of Real Madrid on Sunday. Los Blancos suffered their third La Liga defeat of the season on Saturday after going down 2-1 to Levante which leaves Julen Lopetegui’s job under threat.
