Barcelona not willing to enter "auction" for De Ligt
De Jong situation looks more positive, however
FC Barcelona are unwilling to enter an "auction" for Matthijs de Ligt, making it very difficult for the Ajax defender to be wearing blaugrana next season, according to Mundo Deportivo.
De Ligt's agent, Mino Raiola, has reportedly adviced him to accept the highest salary offer, no matter the club.
With several top teams in for him, De Ligt could see his salary prospects rise and rise. But Barça do not want to be drawn into this situation. They hope to offer him a salary similar to the one being offered to Frenkie De Jong, his Ajax teammate.
De Jong reportedly was willing to sacrifice a higher salary to join Barça, but unless De Ligt goes against the advice of his agent, he may not join De Jong at Camp Nou.
The transfer fee for each is supposedly set at 70 million euro.
