Riqui Puig happy with ‘dream debut’ for Barca

The midfielder grabbed an assist on his first outing

Riqui Puig made his Barcelona debut against Cultural Leonesa on Wednesday night and enjoyed himself at the Camp Nou, grabbing an assist for the team’s fourth goal.

The 19-year-old replaced Oriol Busquets after 55 minutes and produced a lively cameo, as he lived up to the hype that’s been surrounding him for so long.

Puig spoke after the match and could not hide his delight at making his first-team debut at the Camp Nou.

“It’s a debut I dreamed about,” he said.

”A win and an assist on top of how well the team played. I used to come to the Camp Nou when I was three years old, imagining what it would be like to play here.

”Ernesto has given me the opportunity and the reality is a dream come true.”

Puig is the one player we’ve been waiting to see for a little while now, and he certainly did not disappoint.

Let’s hope we don’t have to wait too long to see him back in action for the first team.
