Barcelona and Real Madrid ready to go to “war” over Luka Jović

The Serbian has become a hot commodity for the biggest teams in Europe

FC Barcelona and Real Madrid will be in a tense competition again, although not in the Copa del Rey or La Liga. This time, there will be what Bild has termed a “war” over the transfer of Luka Jović, the 21-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt striker.

Jović is seen by both La Liga giants as one of the best young strikers in the world, with many other European super-heavyweights ready to pounce as well.

Diario SPORT says Barcelona have not yet agreed personal terms with Jović as has been rumored, but the club does not deny an intense interest in the Serbian, who the daily says will cost around 40 million euro. Buying a young forward, along with a left-back, are the two priorities for Barça this summer, according to the report.

While Bild reported of an offer of 45 million from Real Madrid for him, SPORT says no such bid has come through yet. There is also a chance the player chooses to remain with Frankfurt for another year, having previously expressed his willingness to do so if they qualified for the UEFA Champions League.

Jović is technically a Benfica player on loan to Frankfurt, but the Germans have a buy option on him that they will surely use. Frankfurt’s buy option has been reported as being valued somewhere between six and 12 million, but in any case, it is assumed that they will surely exercise it.
