Lenglet: El Clasico is a game that ‘seems to freeze time’

Barcelona face Real Madrid twice in four days

Clement Lenglet has been talking about what it feels like to play in El Clasico ahead of Barcelona’s two games against Real Madrid.

Ernesto Valverde’s side face Los Blancos in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday and then again in La Liga on Saturday with both matches at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Speaking ahead of the two matches, Lenglet admits it’s a special game:

“As players, we are in our little bubble but when we come out, we realise it is a different game from the others because of the power it has around the world,” he said.

“It’s a game that seems to freeze time.”

Real Madrid have the slight edge in the Copa game after a 1-1 draw in the first leg, while in the league Barcelona are nine points ahead of their rivals.

Lenglet will be hoping to start the game after being left out against Sevilla, but he faces a real fight for his place now Samuel Umtiti has returned to fitness.
