Barça squad named for El Clásico
Ernesto Valverde has called up 19 players for the second El Clásico of the week
The next Barcelona match is upon us! The Blaugrana play their second El Clásico of the week against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu, and Ernesto Valverde has called up 19 players for the trip to Madrid:
Goalkeepers: 1. Marc-André ter Stegen, 13. Jasper Cillessen
Defenders: 2. Nélson Semedo, 3. Gerard Piqué, 15. Clément Lenglet, 17. Jeison Murillo, 18. Jordi Alba, 23. Samuel Umtiti
Midfielders: 4. Ivan Rakitic, 5. Sergio Busquets, 7. Philippe Coutinho, 8. Arthur, 20. Sergi Roberto, 21. Carles Aleñá, 22. Arturo Vidal
Forwards: 9. Luis Suárez, 10. Lionel Messi, 11. Ousmane Dembélé, 14. Malcom
There are no changes from the first Clásico in terms of the players selected, and the same ones who missed Wednesday game are out again: Rafinha (knee) and Thomas Vermaelen (leg) can’t play due to injury, while Kevin-Prince Boateng, Sergi Samper and Jean-Clair Todibo are out per the manager’s decision. One of the 19 in the list will be cut, and that will probably be Murillo if Lenglet (illness) is fit enough for the bench.
Predicted starting XI (4-3-3):
Ter Stegen; Roberto, Piqué, Umtiti, Alba; Rakitic, Busquets, Vidal; Messi, Suárez, Dembélé
The match kicks off at 8.45pm CET/WAT (Barcelona & Nigeria), 7.45pm GMT (UK), 2.45pm ET, 11.45am PT (USA), 1.15am IST (India, Sunday), and you can join us to follow and comment all the action with our live blog.
