Barcelona Femeni set for UCL final against Lyon

The team can make history in Hungary

Barcelona Femeni will make history on Saturday as they become the first Spanish team to play in the UEFA Women’s Champions League final.

The Catalan team face a tough test against Lyon Feminine in Budapest, not only are the French side the reigning European champions, they have also won the title for the last three seasons.

Indeed Lyon are widely recognised as the best women’s team in the world and have Ballon d’Or winner Ada Hegerberg leading the attack.

The team also have French captain Wendie Renard and Germany captain Dzsenifer Marozsán in a star-studded squad.

Yet Barcelona also have a few star names of their own who they will hope can do the business in Hungary including England international Toni Duggan, Euro 2017 Ballon d’Or winner Lieke Martens and Alexia Putellas, who has been the face of a Nike advertising campaign.

Barca have beaten BIIK-Kazygurt, Glasgow City, LSK Kvinner and Bayern Munich on their way to a final showdown against Lyon.

Here’s a look at the goals they have scored along the way:

Lyon will be favourites to retain their crown on Saturday when the two teams face off, but it’s already been an historic campaign for the Barca team, and let’s hope they can make more memories on Saturday.
