Barcelona top the charts with the best numbers in La Liga

The champions were deserving winners

Sunday wrapped up the last day of action in the 2018/19 La Liga season, a campaign that has been filled with continuous drama, tears and broad smiles.

From Girona, Rayo Vallecano and Huesca dropping to the second tier to Getafe and Espanyol making history after securing their passports to Europe and La Liga champions, and FC Barcelona, the most consistent team in the top flight, sealing the coveted trophy three matchdays in advance.

After the entertaining 38 rounds, it was league winners Barca who were are the standouts, dominating the charts with the best numbers.

Ernesto Valverde’s men are the leaders in terms of possession and passing with an average of 64.79% ball possession and 588 passes per game.

Barca also take the cake for the most chances created with a whopping 129, while Sevilla fall second with 107. And to no surprise La Liga champions also lead in the category of most goals with a total of 90, an attainable number when you have the luxury of having a player like Lionel Messi, who signed off the campaign with 36 goals.

And to make their title success even sweeter, Barca added a new chapter to their history books, after the Catalans finished the season with a 19-point gap over their eternal rival Real Madrid.

Camp Nou also witnessed a Barca side who became the first team in the history of La Liga to win two consecutive league titles with a difference of more than 10 points with respect to the runners-up.

All in all it’s been a glittering La Liga season for Messi and Co, and their incredibile numbers reflect their consistency and effort on the pitch.
