Barcelona agrees with Getafe on Cucurella transfer - report
The transfer comes soon after the Catalans activated their buyback clause for him
FC Barcelona and Getafe have reached an agreement for the transfer of Marc Cucurella, pending the player’s approval, according to Diario SPORT. The report also says the deal is likely to be approved by the defender, as well.
Barça recently exercised their buyback clause on Cucurella to get his rights back from Eibar. This was done, it seems, to be able to sell him at a higher price after a successful season with the Basques.
He did not train with Barcelona after the buyback, and it was at this point that it became clear he was going to be looking for the next step in his career. SPORT reports that Getafe’s manager, José Bordalás, took a keen interest in the left-back, which played a key role in convincing him to join.
We await official confirmation of the deal.
