Barça may be giving up on the idea of a swap deal

FC Barcelona haven’t given up on Neymar, but they may have given up on one particular formula for bringing the Paris Saint-Germain star back. According to a new report from Mundo Deportivo, Barça are no longer looking at a deal involving players as makeweights. Instead, they will be looking to bring the Brazilian purely through the power of transfer fees.

Philippe Coutinho’s exit to Bayern Munich means he’s clearly off the table, and Ivan Rakitić and Ousmane Dembélé are said to not want to go to PSG. The last possible name was Nélson Semedo’s, but it appears Barcelona do not want to part with him.

That leaves only one option, to pay for the whole thing with cash. A possible loan has been rumored as one potential avenue for this kind of transfer.

Neymar’s willingness to leave PSG is an open secret. The question is, will Barcelona be able to afford the asking price? Will Real Madrid swoop in? Or will the forward simply be left to stay at PSG for at least one more half of a season?
