It’s likely to take place in December instead

The RFEF have confirmed that Barcelona’s Clasico clash with Real Madrid on October 26 has been postponed due to unrest in the Catalan city, according to reports.

The new date has not yet been announced but it seems almost certain it will be in December and we should have a decision on Monday.

La Liga president Javier Tebas has already ruled out playing the game on December 18, due to Copa del Rey fixtures, but the latest plan seems to be to play it on December 7 at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona are due to play Real Mallorca that weekend so the game would be shifted to the Wednesday before, to allow the game against Real Madrid to go ahead on the Saturday.

Real Madrid’s fixture against Espanyol would also need rearranging, so there is quite a bit of work to do still to get everyone to agree to that date.

On the plus side if the game does go ahead in December it means Ousmane Dembele should be available. He was originally ruled out of the game due to suspension but will have served his ban by then. Now he just has to stay fit.
