La Liga ask to move Clasico from Barcelona to Real Madrid
The match could be switched to the Bernabeu
La Liga has requested that October’s Clasico be moved from Barcelona’s Camp Nou to Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu.
The clash is scheduled to take place on October 26 in Barcelona but could be switched to the Spanish capital after protests and clashes in the Catalan city in recent days.
The imprisonment of nine Catalan separatist leaders for their role in the 2017 independence referendum has prompted angry protests across Barcelona this week.
Statement from La Liga: "We have requested the competitions committee of the RFEF to meet and change the location of El Clasico to Madrid because of exceptional circumstances beyond our control."

A mass demonstration has been called for October 26, the same day as the game, and there are fears this could affect the fixture if it were to go ahead at the Camp Nou.
Some of Barcelona’s players have already been caught up in the unrest. Ivan Rakitic was spotted walking home after international duty, while Frenkie de Jong and Ernesto Valverde were reportedly also affected when they arrived back at Barcelona’s El Prat airport this week.
