The club are back in Champions League action

Barcelona return to action quickly after Saturday’s loss to Levante as they take on Slavia Prague in the Champions League at Camp Nou on Tuesay.

Ernesto Valverde’s side ran out 2-1 winners in the Czech Republic against Slavia two weeks ago but were a little fortunate to take all three points.

They go into the match with a formidable home record in the Champions League but will need to improve after a dismal showing at the weekend.

Defence

Barcelona will need to sharpen up defensively against Slavia Prague but should have Jordi Alba back in from the start on Tuesday.

The left-back missed the Levante match but looks set to return in his usual spot which will allow Nelson Semedo to return to right-back in place of Sergi Roberto.

In central defence Gerard Pique will partner Clement Lenglet, although Samuel Umtiti does appear to be closing in on a return to full fitness.

Midfield

Arturo Vidal has started Barcelona’s last two matches after some influential performances but may step back down onto the bench for this one.

Ernesto Valverde is likely to go with his favoured midfield three of Sergio Busquets, Frenkie de Jong and Arthur unless he springs a surprise with his starting XI.

Attack

Barcelona are set to be without Luis Suarez for a few weeks after he picked up a knock against Slavia so there will be changes in attack.

Antoine Griezmann could get the chance to take Suarez’s place in the middle, while Ousmane Dembele and Ansu Fati will both be hoping for a start.

Possible XI: Ter Stegen; Semedo, Pique, Lenglet, Alba; Arthur, Busquets, De Jong; Messi, Griezmann, Dembele.
