Koeman admits Barcelona is a “possibility” as Dutch reporter says he’s likely to join next year
The Netherlands coach is being linked very strongly with the job
Ronald Koeman has admitted that going to Barcelona next year is a “possibility” for him as rumors swirl linking him with an exit from the Netherlands coaching job after Euro 2020.
The former Barcelona legend has said in the past that he intends to return as a coach of the first team one day, although he has maintained it will surely be after the European Championship next year.
Koeman has managed in La Liga before - with Valencia, and found some level of success in the English Premier League as well, among other jobs. He’s recently been in charge of a successful revitalization of the Dutch national team, in no small part due to the emergence of Frenkie de Jong, now at Barça.
Meanwhile, De Telegraaf reports that as things stand now, Koeman is going to Barcelona next year. The report says the club already spoke to him last summer. Barça are a team that keeps a managerial shortlist and the appointments of Luis Enrique and Ernesto Valverde had been rumored for years before they signed.
