Messi equals Ronaldo’s La Liga hat-trick record
The GOAT hit another treble against Celta
Lionel Messi bagged his 34th La Liga hat-trick on Saturday against Celta Vigo to move level with Cristiano Ronaldo at the top of the standings.
The GOAT opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Joseph Aidoo had handballed Junior Firpo’s cross and then popped up with two glorious free-kicks.
His goals mean that Messi joins Ronaldo on 34 La Liga hat-tricks, and no-one has scored more than the two players.

You would expect Messi to overtake Ronaldo’s record before he hangs up his boots, he might even end up beating Juninho Pernambucano’s free-kick record if he keeps up his current rate of scoring from set-pieces.
