Messi: What I feel for this club goes beyond any signature
The Barcelona captain looked to the future
Lionel Messi offered his thoughts after winning the Ballon d’Or for a record sixth time on Monday in Paris.
The Barcelona captain was crowned the world’s best player yet again ahead of Virgil van Dijk and Cristiano Ronaldo and spoke about his love for the club afterwards.
“The people at the club know me. They know there’s no problem beyond what the contract says. What I feel for this club goes beyond any signature or any role. So there isn’t a problem.
”It’s very special. I’m in a certain part of my life where I’m enjoying it both on and off the pitch. With my family, with my children, so I’m happy for this recognition.
”I’m 32 already and on my way to 33. I said a long time ago that it all depends on how I feel physically. But today I feel better than ever on a physical and personal level, so hopefully I can stretch it out a lot more.”

Hopefully he can stretch it out a lot more because despite turning 32 in June Messi remains the best player in the world by some distance, as evidenced yet again on Sunday when he scored a crucial match-winning goal to defeat Atletico Madrid.
His current deal at the Camp Nou runs until 2021, but there’s already been talking of an extension, possibly even a lifetime contract for the Argentina international.
