There’s some hot gossip ahead of the big match

Arturo Vidal reportedly “stormed out” of Barcelona training ahead of Wednesday’s El Clasico after being told he would not be starting the match against Real Madrid.

According to ESPN, Vidal left Tuesday’s session early after finding out from manager Ernesto Valverde that he would be on the bench at the Camp Nou.

The Chile international is known for being something of a feisty character, and “several players tried to comfort Vidal” after hearing the news.

Vidal is by no means a guaranteed starter at Barca and has only made the starting XI three times in La Liga in 2019-20.

He remains an important member of the squad and has popped up with goals against Betis, Sevilla, Valladolid and Leganes this season. He was also on target in last season’s 5-1 win over Real Madrid at the Camp Nou after coming on as a substitute.

Injury to Arthur means there is a spot available in midfield for Wednesday’s match, but if the report turns out to be accurate then it looks like that will go to Ivan Rakitic.

Vidal has been linked with a move away from Barca and said last month he could consider his future if he did not feel important at the club. This report is likely to fuel those rumors even further ahead of the January transfer window.
