The midfielder has spoken about his future

Riqui Puig says he wants to stay at Barcelona and has no plans to leave the Camp Nou ahead of the January transfer window.

There have been rumors Barca could loan the starlet this winter, and director of football Patrick Kluivert has said it would be better for him to secure a move away.

Puig has previously said he might have to made a decision on his future but has now offered a new update on his future and made it clear he doesn’t want to go anywhere.

“At all times I have said that I want to stay at Barcelona. There’s a lot of people upstairs and opportunities [in the first team] are rare.

”At the moment I do not plan on leaving the club and I am very happy in Barcelona. I’m going to stay here for now.

“He [Kluivert] hasn’t spoken to me. There is also Abidal above him and I think we need to talk to him about these issues because he is the one who is in charge of Barcelona B.

“I want to stay, it’s very nice here. Some directors have spoken to my father, but they haven’t made it clear to us what they want to do with me.”

The 20-year-old has not made a single appearance for the first team this season, although he has trained with the squad at times. Barca’s plans for him are not clear at the moment and much may depend on what happens to Ivan Rakitic and Carles Alena in January.
