The striker’s Camp Nou stay may be short

Barcelona haven’t even announced the signing of Martin Braithwaite yet but have already thought about how they can sell the striker in the summer transfer window, according to reports.

The 28-year-old is expected to complete his move from Leganes to the Camp Nou on Thursday after Barcelona decided to pay his €18 million release clause.

Yet Sport reckon that Barcelona have already been considering how they will offload the striker in the summer if he does not impress in the next few months at the Camp Nou.

Braithwaite is expected to sign a contact than runs until 2023 but during negotiations Barca made it clear to his agent Ali Dursun they would want to sell if he did not convince between now and the end of the season.

The club are said to be relying on Dursun to find a new club for Braithwaite as he has good contacts throughout Europe and had offers to leave in January. Barca are also hopeful Braithwaite can shine at Euro 2020 which would help a sale for a good price.

It’s hardly a show of faith from Barcelona in their new signing which suggests he will only be at Barca for a matter of months.
