Edilson says he’s better than Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo

Lionel Messi, Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo may think they are some of the best players the world has ever seen but they are not a patch on former Brazil international Edilson, according to former Brazil international Edilson.

The 48-year-old has been talking about the trio and was happy to explain exactly why, in his humble option, each failed to meet up to his own lofty standards.

Neymar and Messi are both dismissed for not having won the World Cup yet in their careers, while Edilson thinks Ronaldo is simply not skilful enough.

“At my best, I played better than Neymar,” he said. “He needs to win the World Cup in order to be better than me.

“I have personality and for Messi to be better than me, he also has to win the World Cup.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is just strength, he strikes the ball well with both feet but I’m more skillful than him.”

Edilson was part of the Brazil squad that lifted the 2002 World Cup and also won league titles in his homeland with both Palmeiras and Corinthians.
