A memorable night for Luis Enrique’s side

Lionel Messi was busy taking Jerome Boateng to the cleaners on this day five years ago, as Barcelona beat Bayern Munich 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final clash.

The hosts scored three times in the last 13 minutes to win the tie and give themselves a healthy advantage to take to Germany.

Messi opened the scoring on 77 minutes with a low shot and then came up with some utter genius to double Barca’s lead three minutes later.

The GOAT effortlessly dribbled past Boateng, leaving the defender sprawled on the turf, before clipping the ball past Manuel Neuer.

Messi then set up Neymar to add a third in stoppage time but the game will always be remembered for the Argentina international’s brilliance.

Barcelona lost the second leg 3-2 but went through to the Champions League 5-3 on aggregate where they beat Juventus to lift the European Cup for the fifth time.
