The forward is not at his best and could be benched tonight

Lautaro Martínez has been warned that he could be benched if he does not pick his performances, according to a new report, which says the suspicion is the Argentine is distracted by rumors he might join Barcelona.

While the deal between Inter Milan and the Catalans seems more remote than before, the whispers of a possible transfer could be affecting the striker.

Martínez’s penalty miss in the last match was not met warmly by the coach in the post-match presser. Antonio Conte simply said he had no comment on the matter when asked about it.

Inter play Verona tonight, and it’s possible that Lautaro could be dropped if the coach deems he has lost focus.

Alexis Sánchez, a former Barcelona player, usually takes his spot if this happens. Lautaro did not start against Sassuolo last month, for example, but he did come off the bench in a 3-3 draw. He has only scored one goal since the coronavirus break ended. He has 12 so far in Serie A.
