Menotti not expecting Messi to leave Barcelona

The former coach thinks a solution will be found

Former Barcelona and Argentina coach Cesar Luis Menotti has been asked about Lionel Messi’s future and doesn’t see the captain leaving the Camp Nou.

Cadena SER shocked everyone this week with a report that Messi is pretty angry at Barca and is thinking about leaving at the end of next season when his contract expires.

Menotti is not too worried about the speculation though and expects the situation to be resolved.

“It doesn’t even cross my mind that they won’t fix it,” he said.

“Messi doesn’t think about the contract when he goes on the pitch.

“He’s still the same on the pitch and in his neighborhood. I don’t think it’s a financial problem, I don’t understand it.”

Messi has been unusually vocal this season and his hit out at times. It’s not clear yet if he really is planning on departing or if the news is a way of sending a message to the club that things need to improve.
