Umtiti ruled out again with knee trouble

The defender is out for the time being

Barcelona confirmed on Friday that Samuel Umtiti is set for more time on the sidelines with knee trouble.

The French centre-back has suffered with knee injuries for some time now, and Barcelona say he will continue to be “treated conservatively.”

There is no indication of how long he will be out of action for, but he will miss Sunday’s trip to Villarreal in La Liga.

Barcelona will only have four league games left after the weekend’s clash which means it’s entirely possible Umtiti may not feature again in La Liga this season.

Umtiti has played 18 times for Barcelona in 2019-20, his last appearance coming in the 2-2 draw at Celta Vigo.

There have been reports Barca are willing to sell the 26-year-old, but his continued injury problems are likely to make a sale difficult.
