How the papers reacted to Barca’s win over Napoli
Quique Setien’s side are into the Champions League quarter-finals
Barcelona and Lionel Messi are front page news once again in Spain after Saturday’s 3-1 win over Napoli in the last-16 of the Champions League.
The win sends the Catalan giants through to a pretty tasty quarter-final against Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in Lisbon on Friday.
Here’s what the papers make of it all:
Mundo Deportivo go with a picture of Messi celebrating his stunning goal against Napoli and the headline: ‘Messi drives to Lisbon.’
The Barcelona captain was once again vital for Barcelona, also winning the penalty from which Luis Suarez scored the third goal.
Sport are also excited about the Champions League. ‘To the quarter-finals’ is their headline with another picture of Messi celebrating his goal at an empty Camp Nou.
The Catalan daily was pretty impressed with Messi and Barcelona’s first-half display and also note how Barca are now just three games away from lifting the European Cup for the first time since 2015.
Even Marca have Messi on their front page with the headline ‘Messi takes them to Lisbon.’ Again the report is about how crucial Messi was in Barcelona’s win that sees them through to a tie with Bayern.
