The Liverpool midfielder is said to be a target

New Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman reportedly wants to bring Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum to the Camp Nou.

According to Algemeen Dagblad, Wijnaldum is pretty high up on Koeman’s wishlist and is thought to be “affordable” as his contract expires in summer 2021.

There has been speculation Koeman has advised the midfielder not to renew at Anfield, and Wijnaldum is said to be stalling because he wants assurances he’ll continue to be a key player for the Reds.

AD reckon Barcelona think Wijnaldum could quickly become a key player under Koeman in midfield with Frenkie de Jong and can help the club get back on track.

Meanwhile, Melissa Reddy at The Independent states Wijnaldum “has not dismissed taking on a new challenge” and “could agree a pre-contract with Barca” in January.

Koeman knows Wijnaldum well from their work together with the Netherlands national team, but Barca will still have to sell before making a move for the 29-year-old.
