Lionel Messi makes another donation in fight against coronavirus
This is his third big donation
Lionel Messi has made another significant donation in the fight against coronavirus. This is his third big donation since the pandemic has spread throughout the world. First, he donated €1 million to hospitals in Barcelona and Argentina. He then donated another half-million to a Buenos Aires hospital in May, which used the money to distribute equipment throughout the country.
Now, he has reportedly donated 50 ventilators to hospitals in Rosario, his hometown in Argentina, as an emergency measure to prevent the region’s hospitals from being overwhelmed.
Ventilators are expensive but potentially life-saving, with some estimates placing the cost of such a machine as upwards of 50,000 euro. The donation could easily reach the millions, although an official figure has not been reported.
The first 32 of the 50 ventilators are said to have already landed in Rosario’s airport.
