Quique Setien is reportedly pondering changes

Barcelona manager Quique Setien is reportedly planning on playing 4-4-2 against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Friday.

Sport have what they think is the coach’s “anti-Bayern plan” splashed all over their front page on Tuesday ahead of the big game.

Setien is considering using a four-man midfield of Sergi Roberto, Sergio Busquets, Arturo Vidal and Frenkie de Jong against the Bundesliga champions.

The idea behind the switch in formation is because Setien wants his side to “keep the ball more, avoid goals and take advantage of Messi’s offensive quality.”

Setien’s plan means that Antoine Griezmann would be the man to make way, and once again there were be no room in the starting XI for Riqui Puig or Ansu Fati.

It’s interesting stuff for sure but it’s also worth noting that Sport ran a piece on Setien’s tactics for Napoli suggesting the Barca coach was thinking of playing a 3-5-2 against the Italian side.

Barcelona return to training today after a day off on Monday and are due to fly out to Lisbon on Thursday.
