The youngster has signed for Barcelona instead

Pedri has been talking about how Real Madrid had the chance to sign him a few years ago when he spent some time with Los Blancos.

The 17-year-old is due at Barcelona this week from Segunda Division side Las Palmas and says is was always his dream to play for the Catalan giants.

“Two or three years ago I went to take tests with Real Madrid. I was there a week but they told me to keep working, they didn’t count on me and didn’t want to sign me.

“Last year, when I started pre-season with Las Palmas, before finishing it I had signed for Barca, it was my dream since I was a kid. Much better that Barca called me and I had this opportunity.”

Pedri has spoken before about how he’s from a family of Barcelona fans, telling the club’s media that at his home “even the plates have Barça on them, a frying pan too. My family are big Barça fans.”

The 17-year-old also discussed his future once again amid rumors of interest from clubs in Germany about signing him on loan.

“I’d take it on if I don’t get a chance here. There are offers from German teams that are very good. I wouldn’t mind playing abroad, the important thing is to play and keep growing. I have to arrive and work as hard as I can to stay here. Let’s see if I have the chance to make my dream since I was a kid come true.”

Barcelona will get the chance to see what Pedri can do in the next few weeks ahead of the start of the league season which should determine whether he stays with the first-team next season or heads out on loan to play more regularly.
