The two parties with meet on Wednesday

Jorge Messi is reportedly set to meet with Barcelona on Wednesday to discuss his son’s future at the club.

Yet it’s not clear if the two parties are going to make much progress given neither seems willing to compromise at present.

According to ESPN and Mundo Deportivo, Messi Sr. will make it clear his son no longer wants to play for Barcelona, is keen to leave for free but wants to achieve a friendly exit.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu is going to insist he’s not for sale, is still under contract and will cost €700 million if he is to depart.

The reports also reckon that Bartomeu will actually also offer a contract extension at the meeting which is unlikely to go down well in the current climate.

At the moment it’s impossible to predict what the outcome of the meeting will be and if any progress between the two sides can be achieved.

Yet some form of compromise is going to be needed to avoid this saga getting any uglier and ending up in a court.
