The Argentine is in the city for talks

Jorge Messi has landed in Barcelona ahead of showdown talks with Josep Maria Bartomeu this afternoon about his son’s future at the club.

The 62-year-old seems to have been hounded by reporters ever since he touched down, and Deportes Cuatro managed to get a few words with Messi Sr.

Here’s how it went:

DC: Jorge, Hello ... Is Leo going to leave Barça or what?

JM: I don’t know

DC: How do you see it?

JM: Difficult

DC: Hard to stay?

JM: Yes

DC: And Manchester City is a good option?

JM: I don’t know, there is nothing.

DC: Did you talk to Pep and he told you that maybe it is better that you stay at Barça?

JM: I didn’t talk to Pep

DC: Didn’t you talk to Pep?

JM: No, with nobody

DC: And how do you see the future at Barça?

JM: Difficult, difficult

Jorge Messi is expected to try and negotiate his son’s exit, but Barcelona are adamant currently they don’t want to sell. Speculation has even suggested the club will try and offer a new two-year extension.

It remains to be seen if Barca would be willing to name their price for Messi if Bartomeu can’t persuade him to stay, otherwise the dispute betwen club and captain could end up in court.
