Barca told me Haaland didn’t have the right profile - Braida
The forward was one of several players recommended
Former Barcelona advisor Ariedo Braida has given an interesting interview where he’s talked about players he recommended the Catalan giants try to sign during his time with the club.
Braida says he suggested Erling Haaland at one point but was told the forward was not the right fit for Barcelona.
“I was studying players and I wrote down some names like Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, when he was still playing in Norway. But at the club they told me no, that he didn’t have the Barcelona profile.
“I also suggested other players from Italy, like [Nicolo] Barella, who is now at Inter, or [Nicolo] Zaniolo, who plays at Roma. But if you don’t have the responsibility to do this because it has been given to others, you can’t do anything. I was isolated.”

Haaland subsequently moved to Red Bull Salzburg before being snapped up by Borussia Dortmund last year for just €20 million. The youngster made an instant impact with the German club and is currently thought of as one of the hottest young talents in Europe.
