He could leave Bayern as a free agent

David Alaba could join either Barcelona or Real Madrid on a free transfer next year, should his contract renewal talks with Bayern Munich fall through.

A new report in Germany says Alaba turned down a four-year contract worth 11 million in salary, plus an additional 6 million per year.

He’s been linked with the two La Liga giants for a long time but so far, he has stayed firm in Bavaria. And perhaps that will continue. The report states that his first choice right now is to remain with Bayern.

“I feel very comfortable in Munich, it has been my home for twelve years. I was able to experience very nice moments there,” he was quoted as saying.

Still, it’s understood the German club will not increase his salary by too much, as they do not want to destroy their salary structure. That could give an opening for several clubs to make a move.

Juventus are a team that loves a free transfer, and it is said they are planning on making a move on the Austrian international should he be available. But the favorites remain Barcelona and Real Madrid, should Alaba not renew with Bayern.
