La Liga is back after the international break

Barcelona are finally back in action after the international break and head to Getafe hoping to keep their unbeaten run intact.

Ronald Koeman’s side dropped points for the first time last time out against Sevilla and come into the match after having most of their players away with their national team.

The Barca boss may have one eye on forthcoming games against Real Madrid and Juventus when selecting his team, so let’s have a look at who could start.

Defence

Koeman has a few issues in defence with Jordi Alba and Junior Firpo both expected to miss out due to injury. Sergino Dest is being tipped to come in at left-back and make his full debut for the club.

Clement Lenglet will return from suspension and should partner Gerard Pique at center-back, with Sergi Roberto continuing on the right. Neto will keep his place in goal with Marc-Andre ter Stegen still not back from knee surgery.

Another player who could make his first start for Barcelona is midfielder Miralem Pjanic. The 30-year-old had been tipped to come in and partner either Frenkie de Jong or Sergio Busquets.

De Jong played all 90 minutes for the Netherlands on Wednesday against Italy, while Busquets did not feature in Spain’s surprise defeat to Ukraine on Tuesday.

However, Pjanic looks to be a doubt for Saturday’s match. He worked out alone in Thursday’s session after picking up a back injury on international duty.

Attack

Koeman’s decision on who to play in attack should be interesting. There are suggestions Lionel Messi could be rested after a busy international break with Argentina.

New signing Francisco Trincao was expected to start but was not at training on Thursday and won’t return until Friday’s session.

Trincao’s absence means that Ousmane Dembele could come into the reckoning, while Pedri is also a potential option.

Martin Braithwaite will also be hoping for some minutes and could come into contention if Koeman wants to give some of his other attackers a breather.

Possible starting XI: Neto; Roberto, Pique, Lenglet, Dest; De Jong, Busquets; Dembele, Coutinho, Ansu; Griezmann
