OFFICIAL: Barcelona sign Sergiño Dest from Ajax

The teenager has signed a five-year deal

Barcelona confirmed on Thursday that Sergiño Dest has signed for the club on a five-year deal from Ajax.

The 19-year-old arrives for a fee of €21 million with €5m in variables. His buyout clause is set at €400m and he will wear the No. 2 shirt.

Dest will replace Nelson Semedo, who has moved to Wolves, and will be officially presented on Friday when we’ll hear more from the man himself.

Ronald Koeman spoke about the youngster in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday

“He’s a young full-back, it’s about having young players for the club’s future. He has to compete with the other full-backs we have. Despite age, he’s played a lot of games, played in Champions League. A very useful player.”

Dest will now compete with Sergi Roberto for the right-back slot at Barcelona and could make his debut on Sunday against Sevilla at the Camp Nou.
